Conquer Hair Loss
Alopecia affects millions worldwide and can trigger psychosocial distress and additional hair loss. There have been advances in hair restoration techniques that now provide patients with viable options in managing and preventing hair loss.
Hair restoration is the regrowth, renewal, or redistribution of hair from one part of your head to another. You should start hair restoration treatments if you have a family history of hair loss and begin to notice changes in your hairline (decreased density, miniaturization, or recession).
Hair transplant is primarily applicable for male-pattern balding causes of hair loss and should be considered when you have early stages of hair loss to maintain your natural hairline. The optimal timing of hair transplant will vary depending on patient goals and overall aging strategy. However, Dr. Christie recommends early consideration for the most natural results.
Education is Key
Dr. Christie believes education is the key to choosing a procedure and a practitioner. Education is essential at every stage of your Hair Restoration journey, including causes of hair loss, understanding the problem and the solution, and figuring out the best treatment plan for your own Hair Restoration needs.
Medical-Based Results-Driven Solutions
There are a number of different therapies to manage hair health, including topical medications, in-office treatments, and at-home therapies, depending on what phase you are presenting and inciting factors. Hair loss requires a multi-modal approach, and patients presenting with advanced stages will require a complement of therapies. Successful treatments also consider root causes of hair loss, including genetic, hormonal, stress-related, or diet related.
Hair Restoration Treatments
The cornerstone of hair restoration begins with an evaluation of your scalp health with a thorough consultation to understand the underlying cause. We also want to rule out treatable conditions before considering hair restoration therapies. Analysis of daily routines and products that may also contribute to hair loss is performed. Our scalp treatments target rebalancing scalp skin to remove debris, allow penetration of products, and increased blood flow to the scalp.
Stimulates Hair Growth
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or Platelet-rich fibrin matrix (PRFM) therapy is based on growth factors and proteins released from your own concentrated blood products. PRP therapy is broadly used in regenerative therapies from orthopedic to anti-aging procedures, and its utility in the medical field continues to expand. Studies show it as an effective treatment in stimulating local hair growth, preventing hair from falling out, and improving the hair shaft, hair stem, and hair caliber, which clinically improves the shine and vitality of the hair shaft. Studies further show PRP stimulates hair growth, increases hair follicle viability, and prevents apoptosis (death) of the hair follicle, increasing and prolonging the growth phase that results in increased density in both hair loss and hair transplantation groups. PRFM is a separation technique that results in the prolonged action of growth factor release.
Effective Hair Restoration Strategy
Low-level red light therapy has been shown to be an effective strategy in some patients in promoting hair follicle growth and delaying the transition of the hair cycle to the shedding phase resulting in hair growth and reversing the miniaturization of follicles. This treatment is not always effective as a standalone treatment, and the success in some studies vs. others demonstrates the need for further understanding in patient selection as well as its utility as a combination therapy.
Miniaturization of your hair follicle occurs when your hair follicles physically become smaller, resulting in decreased hair shaft thickness and smaller, thinner, brittle hair. This process occurs due to the natural aging process of hair loss and is effectively targeted with topical products. Depending on your underlying etiology, we have a number of effective hair products that can reverse and/or halt the hair loss process. In general, we look to treat the underlying cause and utilize natural therapies in our treatment strategies. Prescription products may include natural products, minoxidil (oral or topical), botox, or compounded prescription medications.
Much like skin, your hair has a life cycle that requires time to see results. You can expect to see baby growth within six weeks of treatment. We rate subjective and objective results to determine if there is an escalation or de-escalation of therapies.

Androgenic alopecia (hereditary hair loss) is the most common cause of hair regression that is estimated to affect up to 60% of men and 40% of women. However, there are a number of other medical causes of hair loss, including alopecia areata (autoimmune disorder), stress, or hormonal imbalances.
PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) treatment is the procedure by which the platelet or liquid portion of your blood is used to rejuvenate the skin and hair. A vial of blood is removed from you and sent to a centrifuge, where the plasma is separated from the rest of the blood. Then the platelet-rich plasma is injected to deliver the PRP to the target area. The treatment takes about an hour to complete. When you arrive, a few vials of blood are drawn and sent to a centrifuge. The rich platelets are separated from the bad platelets and are extracted from the vial. Then the PRP is injected into the affected area. There is little-to-no downtime with PRP treatment, though there are a few tips that we encourage patients to follow for the best results. Avoid touching the injection area for the first 48 hours unless you lightly cleanse and avoid sun exposure.
